APRIL 2014     This is the 1st issue of the Camp Newsletter in electronic form . We forsee this format giving the camp's newsletter a versatility that paper cannot match. We can upload photos and videos of the events we participate in.

While we have yet to get completely organised with our new format, we ask your paitence as we currently have no editor and hope to resolve that issue as soon as possible. I would like to relay this story as the 1st in this new media. I have petitioned the NC Division on behalf of Sandra Callicutt and they have appproved her to recieve the Bonnie Blue Medal. This medal recognises women who have given outstanding service to our Cause. I will recieve the medal during the Division Reunion at Valdese in April. Watch the "Events" on this site for details on the ceremony that will take place at Callicutt Wesleyan Chapel once we nail down a date to present the medal to Joe and his family.

May 2014  This month is a busy time for the Cause. Our annual Shiloh Service is on track and we hope attendance is up from last year.  There are several events by our neighboring camps that can use our support. If you can help out , it will be appreciated. The 1st I'll mention is the Asheboro's camp Memorial Service on the 10th. It will be at the Asheboro cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Dwain can certainly use our support as he has done for us so many times in the past. The Scotch Rifleman will hold a Memorial Service at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Carthage on the afternoon of the 10th. I have not recieved an email about the time, and assume it will be around 2:00 p.m.

The Camp was in fine form this weekend as we supported the Asheboro Camp in it's Memorial Service at the Old Town Cemetery.About 12 were in uniform and the rifle squad fired a volley with 11 members. Visitors were given a tour of Confederate graves and a short history on some Veterans was read.  5/11/2014

Mother's Day 2014 On this 100th anniversary of Mother's Day, the Camp paid tribute to Sandra Callicutt by presenting Joe and the family with the Rebecca Jones Alford Bonnie Blue Medal. We had 5 members and 2 guests in attendance and by all accounts the Callicutt family was very grateful for the recognition for her service to our cause. I must admit I measured our mission success by one factor..when I presented the award to Joe he said.."I'm at a loss for words......." For Joe to be at a loss for words is our guarantee we did well... and I mean that in the best light possible.

The camp currently has no one to publish a newsletter. There will be limited informaton here until someone volunteers to take the job as editor of the newsletter.
